Let’s be honest, no one knows how to do a proper Chaturanga, but we sure will try. Through breaking, comes breakthrough.
We believe in a ‘practice makes imperfect’ philosophy. There are many things in life that just weren’t meant for us, there are also so many things that were, some known and some waiting to be discovered. But practice makes imperfect, and that’s exactly what we are; perfectly imperfect and truly trying.
Our core beliefs are based around a simple, secure, and sustainable self, through the ups and downs.
Our mission is to inspire and empower those in search of self, and to serve as a reminder that we are all the same. Just like me they went through pain, just like me they don’t have all of the answers, and just like me they still don’t.
We are people for the people.
We are for the people who want to see real love. We are for the people who want to see true hope. We are for the people who want to feel something. We are for the people who want to be a part of something.
We are for the people who believe in change, genuine change.
TrooMe was born when founder Mahriana Smith, realized that she was trying to be everyone else in the world except herself.
“Throughout my life, I have searched for the places in which I might fit. Years were spent pretending, rather than embracing. Looking back on it, I can honestly say that I was terrified to truly be myself. I was terrified to find out who that self was. It’s easier to accept failure when it’s not you who is failing. I couldn’t stand the idea of failing as myself.
But there’s something truly beautiful and freeing about standing in your truth and saying ‘This is me, i’m not entirely sure what that means yet, but I intend to find out.
Over time, I became dearly passionate towards self expression, living one’s truth and the overcoming of obstacles. Yet, my voice and experience could reach so far and relate to so many. So, by incorporating those with varying stories to speak on behalf of their fears, failures, and breakthroughs, the message that I am wishing to send, is amplified and more easily related to diversely.
And when stories are shared, a window of opportunity is opened for others to see themselves in that position.”
Each conversation is conducted through private phone calls or in-person interviews, followed with the conversion of files from audio to digital. Each interview is authentic, genuine and ‘word for word’.
At TrooMe, our interviews are conducted following certain guidelines. We look for idols, mentors and humble heroes; expressing the challenges and trials that they went through, and the strength needed to take themselves from one place to the next. What was it that pulled them through the pain? What was it that kept them holding on to the vision?
Was it passion, pain, faith, commitment, positive mindset?
By exploring these stories, we can relate our own personal endeavours to those of whom we admire and idolize, and a window of opportunity is opened for us to learn, grow, relate and expand.
We begin to see that just like us, the people whom we look up to, stumbled and struggled. We begin to see that just like us, the idols we admire, doubted themselves. We begin to see that just like us, they were living in darkness, searching for the light.
TrooMe highlights that we are all the same. Just like me, they went through pain, just like me, they didn’t have all the answers, and just like me, they still don’t.
May we set out on this journey, hand in hand, one foot in front of the other, knowing that wherever we place our feet, is up to us. We are not being rocked and rolled by the tides of time and chance. We are in control, not of our external circumstances, but how we choose to react to them.
